                    "\"En recuerdo de la antigua \u201cBeneficencia municipal\u201d (1821-1983) de la que form\u00f3 parte este edificio y en el que se instal\u00f3 el primer centro de prematuros de Espa\u00f1a que emple\u00f3 la huella dactilar plantar para reci\u00e9n nacidos creando el DNI infantil (1989) y en agradecimiento a\r\n\r\nDr. Garrido-Lestache y equipo, as\u00ed como, a todos los profesionales que, en este centro y con su trabajo diario, fueron pioneros en t\u00e9cnicas y protocolos sanitarios avanzados para su \u00e9poca contribuyendo a engrandecer la sanidad madrile\u00f1a.\"\r\n\r\nPlaca homenaje a los profesionales de la Sanidad madrile\u00f1a y a la Beneficencia municipal en la que se destaca la labor del Doctor Antonio Garrido-Lestache por su incansable lucha por los derechos de la infancia.\r\n\r\nLa placa se encuentra instalada en la calle Montesa, en el edificio del antiguo centro de la Beneficencia de Madrid, lugar donde el pediatra desempe\u00f1\u00f3 su labor profesional durante muchos a\u00f1os.\r\nAntonio Garriodo-Lestache fue un pionero de la identificaci\u00f3n neonatal: Dedic\u00f3 gran parte de su carrera m\u00e9dica a garantizar que todos los reci\u00e9n nacidos fueran identificados de manera segura mediante su huella dactilar. Su sistema y sus esfuerzos lograron que la UNICEF consignara este m\u00e9todo dentro de los derechos fundamentales de los ni\u00f1os para evitar robos o p\u00e9rdidas de identidad. Debido a su trayectoria en centros madrile\u00f1os como el Hospital del Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas, el Ayuntamiento ya le hab\u00eda concedido con anterioridad la Medalla de Madrid en su categor\u00eda de plata."
